Packs down small
"Love the lightweight option that packs down to pretty much nothing when im not using. Also great that you can open the sides to ventilate or reduce moisture build up inside the poncho when I'm on the move."
Alan R - Australia, NSW

Look at all the Hikera ponchos! Hiking the Inca Trail in Peru was so much easier with the Hikera Poncho! Love how it covers me and the pack!
These ponchos are amazing! We wore them on a hike in Japan, on one of the days it rained all day, and the ponchos kept us and our backpacks completely dry! Plus we stayed cool because you can adjust the side fasteners to let in cool air if the weather is humid. They are good length so our trousers did not get wet either, the hood worked well at directing rain away from face. They roll down nice and compact for travelling. They are a good quality fabric that won't snag or tear easily. We highly recommend these ponchos!
My daughter and I walked the 100 km Great Ocean Walk over 5 days to raise money for the Cancer Council. The three things we couldn’t do without were our hiking boots, toe socks and our Treckshield ponchos. They kept us dry, warm and wind protected. We also used it as a ground sheet for our lunch breaks. Would recommend.
The Trekshield ponchos are perfect for wet weather walking, especially when wearing a backpack. They are easy to whip on or off as the weather changes. They are also a good weight to ensure they don’t blow around too much in windy conditions.
the poncho has been so handy over the roar this year on those wet cold days. ive used it so much and highly recommend getting one to put in the pack. its light weight compared to a heavy jacket and does a great job. its stringer than most ponchos and hasn't ripped over the many times i have used it. we also used it under our tent for a ground sheet one night when it was really rough weather and it worked well no moisture coming threw the base of tent. top product i highly recommend it.
We bought 2 ponchos to do the Camino de Santiago. We have had snow and torrential rain for 3 consecutive days. The poncho kept us dry. When the sun finally came out , it packed away with no issues
Just completed a 9kms bush walk and used the TrekShield poncho when it began to rain. The poncho kept me - and my day pack - completely dry in light but persistent rain which lasted around 30 minutes. The peak on the hood was very helpful in keeping the rain off my face and the fastenings on the side kept the poncho closed and in place. Once the rain stopped the garment dried quite quickly. With exertion, things got a little humid inside the poncho but, overall, it worked well and was light and compact to carry.
I purchased the one in green, and based upon my recommendation, my friend bought the one in blue! We took these amazing ponchos with us on the Camino de Santiago, and they were brilliant!
Thank you for such an excellent product!
I loved how easy it was to put on over the top of my backpack, it moved well with me while I walked, the fabric was soft and it breathed - it is far from your old school poncho. The peak on the hood is a winner for glasses wearers and the pocket in the front is perfect for carrying snacks, tissues and your phone. I am yet to use it as a shelter but it doubled well as a layer between my dry clothes and the wet ground, too! Looking forward to taking it travelling with me in the future!
Recently hiking through Japan these coats were called upon regularly. We managed to walk 15km one day in persistent rain and still keep our packs and bodies warm. We had many other travelers along the way ask us about our coats and enquired about the details.
Ponchos were easy to put on, lightweight, waterproof and warm! Because of their length they were a little hard to keep out from underfoot in hilly terrain. They were perfect at a festival and hiking on flat ground!
4 day heavenly hike in the Wilson’s Promontory National Park in (the southern most point on mainland Australia) we were blessed with beautiful weather so didn’t need to use the poncho as such, but one damp night it was perfect for fly/vestibule. SOOOO glad I purchased it!!
Hiked out on Christmas Day, 2025 on the Paparoa track on the West Coast of New Zealand during a torrential downpour and it kept me dry as a bone. Well done poncho!
Well used on the Milford Track NZ. Rain hail we had it all. The ponchos were excellent. Had other people asking at the huts where we got them. So well made and they kept packs and us dry
Even in the horrendous weather
A week after receiving my TrekShield in the mail, wore it for ~5 hours hiking in the rain, wrapped my gear (and me) in it when i got to the campsite and had a powernap, used it to cover my backpack and gear when setting up tent in drizzle, and used it as a ground-sheet when pulling the tent down the next day...keeping gear from out of my tent off the wet dirt. I was so happy with the purchase....glad i got a second one to keep in the car!
We used our ponchos for the first time in China at the Animal Sanctuary… all of our fellow travellers had poncho envy. We stayed dry, our backpacks stayed dry and had a fabulous day. Can’t wait for our next wet adventure
We bought out TreksShield 3-In-1's for an upcoming West Highland Way walk in Scotland later this year and haven't put them to the test yet. We're hoping for great weather and not having to use them but being Scotland that might be wishful thinking! I'm sure they will do the job of keeping us and our backpacks dry. I'm only 157cms tall so it absolutely gives me plenty of coverage. Quality is good. I like how compact they are and pack down into their own little sack. Being lightweight is an added bonus.
It's easy to put on and take off, super light, covered my body and my backpack, the only problem is that when I hiking up hill, I need hold front of poncho end of part as it touched the groud,my foot could stand on it,so easy trap over, otherwise it's all good 👍
I am a seasoned hiker and used this for the first time in steady rain instead of using my rain jacket, rain pants and waterproof pack cover. TrekShield 3-in-1 worked well. I did find it a bit of a trip hazard going up a steep slope (I am 158cm tall and this hangs quite low on me at the front). To reduce the tripping risk I recommend using the belt, and buttoning the press studs on the edges so that the front hangs shorter than the back. Have bought one for my partner, he is taller and it worked really well for him, he had no tripping issues.
Wore this on a storm day which turned into major flooding. Fully dry except for anything not covered.
Waist belt an absolute asset.
Live it so much I brought one for my sister and am taking to Bali with me in a few weeks
I bought this poncho to hike Mt Kinabalu in Borneo, and for general rain cover on our trip. It was super lightweight and easy to slip into my day bag on those 'just in case' days. The poncho style was great for the hike as it easily covered myself and my backpack in an instant. We experienced some pretty heavy rain so found that after a while, the wet did start to seep in a bit, particularly at the contact point with my backpack. Despite that, would definitely recommend as an easy, lightweight and breathable option for hot, humid and wet climates or for a really easy throw-on when the rain hits.
Unlike many rain jackets that trap heat and turn you into a walking sauna, our poncho features side studs for adjustable airflow. This design allows heat and moisture to escape, keeping you cooler and drier inside, whether you're hiking, cycling, or walking the dog.

How is the face hole sealed when using it as a shelter?
When pitching the poncho as a shelter or tarp, you can tighten the neck drawstring to close the face opening, then wrap the drawstring around the hood to seal it shut. This simple trick keeps the rain out and your shelter watertight.
